Happy Anniversary…

Standard

…to us!  Today marks the third year that Daniel has been privileged enough to call me his wife.  You are welcome, babe!  We sure have had a heck of a ride over the last 3 years and I hope we have at least 3 more good ones left.  Ha ha…just kidding!  More like 63 more (that will put me at 93 years old and I think that I will be ready to hang it up by then)!  I don’t think we will forget our 20-11 anniversary any time soon…

We actually went to London this weekend to celebrate (more to come later this week), but here is how we actually spent our anniversary.

Daniel hasn't had American beef since October, so that was my gift to him in London. You would have thought it was his first time to eat. Thank you JW Steakhouse and London for being USDA-friendly!

Daniel brought me flowers at lunch. How sweet!
Thanks for the anniversary wishes!
We will be dining at our favorite hot spot in Paris this evening. Looking forward to a romantic evening…

Bon Ap!

Etretat, France (pr: ET RA TAT)

Standard
Final stop along our weekend to the coast was Etretat, France.  This was my favorite town along the way.  I have never- in my life-seen views like this.  The pictures are good, but they just don’t do it justice.  See for yourself…I will let the photos do the talking on this one.
Bon Ap!

Daniel's pride and joy shot of the entire weekend. "Cool Babe...you got really close to that seagull..." He is getting older now and likes bird watching and flower smelling. What will he be like at 70?!

We are trying to get the cliffs in the background…bare with us…
“Julie, move your St. Bernard-sized cranium!”
“Daniel, your pea brain got in the way!”
Closer….
There’s the money shot!

I am submitting this to J.Crew. Look for it in the Fall 2011 book.

Excuse the fashion faux pas (ewww…rolled jeans!)
Unbelievable, right?

The “sand” at Etretat.

And the trusty stead that got us to the coast and back to Pari safe and sound. We’ll call her Gloria!

Next move:  We are moving to the beach.  Never to return to land-locked life again!

Just Married…the remake!

Standard
So, we stayed the night in Honfleur.  Here is where the real journey began.  Let me set the scene for you…

Have you seen the movie “Just Married” with Ashton Kutcher and Brittainy Murphy?  Well, remember the part in Italy where they are headed upstairs to their room in La Pension?  The landlord was farting the entire way up the stairs, the bed looked like it had just been slept in by an elephant, the pictures hung crooked on the wall and…sometimes… fell off.  Stains?…oh yes!  Ashton Kutcher says, “We’ll try it for the night and if we don’t…LIVE…”  That is what we were dealing with here.

We pretty much had an exact remake of this scene:  http://movieclips.com/9bpeK-just-married-movie-roach-hotel/

Not SO bad from the outside…but wait!
This pretty much sums it up…
Replace Brittainy and Ashton with Julie and Daniel and you will get the picture…
No words…
Even super-trooper Daniel wasn’t sure about this one. That’s when I knew it was bad and I wasn’t just being a spoiled brat! No, he wasn’t on the phone with the Four Seasons…unfortunately!

To let you know my personal beliefs on lodging.  My Dad pretty much summed it up when I asked him as a small child if we could go camping.  He said, “Sure…as long as it is at the Four Seasons”.  So, see?  It’s not my fault!  Bon App!

Honfleur, France (pr: ON FLER)

Stop #2 on our weekend getaway was Honfleur, France.  This is a true fishing village with the cutest:

The cutest sparkling cidre. Trust me, it was cute outside and delicious inside. Mmmmmm....

Cute little buildings…
Cute shops, cute restaurants, cute boats…
Cute redheads–“Ahoy Matey!”
Cute/awesome bridges across the English Channel…

Cute dogs chillin’ in the store fronts, waiting for the next sucker to come along (enter: Julie!)
Even cute scotch bottles!

Bon App…

Deauville, France (pr: DOE VILL)

Standard
I know, I know.  It has been a while since I have posted any activity.  But, that doesn’t mean there hasn’t been any!  I always take a break from blogging when I am back in the U.S. of A.  I am back, trying to be Parisian, and back to blogging (so chill out, Wes!)  Ha ha.

Right before I left for Arkansas, Daniel and I took a weekend excursion to the coast.  We had a great time and visited 3 little towns along the coast.  When it gets a little warmer, those nude beaches better watch out cause here I come (I believe the words you are looking for are:  “Oooo la la”)!  Just kidding…didn’t mean to gross anyone out.  Please, keep reading my blog…please…no more nude references!

First stop along the trail was Deauville.  Come to find out, this is quite the hoity toity little area.  All of the Who’s Who in France visit Deauville on the weekend.  Quite fitting that the Barnetts were also “weekending” at the shore…and “lunching”…  Ha ha!  My people called Daniel’s people.  Bon App (said with a French accent that sounds very snooty).

Here is the uppidy couple now...

She sells sea shells…by the seashore (say it 3 times fast)!
Of course…horseshoe prints in the sand. In the U.S….there is the occasional Laborador pawprint!
The Rich and Famous. I have approximately 19 more photos (Daniel was obsessed) if you are interested?
Who doesn’t love a good, well-themed, seaside cafe? The food sucked, but who cares?!

Makes you want to strip down to your speedo, eh?
Tranquility….I will leave you with that happy image.
